The newspaper’s requirement was that every reader should have a chance to win the top prize of £134,000 and also a chance to win smaller value prizes. They wanted the promotion to be based on the actual race result, meaning that every gamecard had to be unique.
Watch & Win was IGI Europrint’s solution. Each gamecard had a unique combination of 5 numbers between 01 and 40, where each number could be referenced to actual names of horses running on Grand National Day.
Readers had to watch the race and see how many of their 5 horses finished in the first five places, with prizes being awarded for different numbers of matching finishing positions.
