WIN AN IPOD
Walkers
In 2005 Walkers launched their “win an iPod every 5 minutes” campaign, which was designed to increase sales of their core Walkers range after the bagged snacks market had seen a decline. In particular the sales of single bags, predominantly an impulse purchase of 18-30 year olds, had taken the hardest hit.
The mechanics were simple. Unique 10 digit codes would be printed on the Walkers packets and consumers could enter this code into the competition via text or online. An iPod mini winner would then be drawn every 5 minutes for the whole month of September and a further 1 a day throughout October and November. A total of 8,701 iPod minis were up for grabs.
IGI Europrint supplied over 1 billion unique codes for this promotion, which had over 15 million entries and a 10% sales increase year on year. This was Walkers biggest promotion and was rolled out across Europe after its huge success in the UK.
